LEt me summarize what just happened. Stargate fans on this group are turning against SG-1 and SGA calling SGU a refreshing change and saying things like this about SG1...
"If you don't like drama and prefer the cliches and senseless conflict, then change the channel on your tv."
So its like saying if you dont like america you can git out
"This is a Stargate show that is based more on reality than fiction! It's "Stargate"... But it has turned a corner to be more dramatic, more personal and a far more real branch of the franchise!"
Reality huh? Is that what they call it now?
"Yes, it's all a bit Galactica so far but that is the way it is meant to be! A Little more Real! (Think about it... Would YOU take to the situation easily if you were thrown into it?)"
I would be more concerned about fixing the ship than shagging anything in sight and drama crap.
"The use of the stones so far in the series has been a little over done... But think if it were you in a "Real" situation like that! Wouldn't You want to have a chance to go back and see those you love and interact with them even one more time if you thought it were your final possible chance to do so?"
Maybe id want to, but do you think the SGC is going to let you do that? No, they would send some scientists in to fix the ship.
In other words, there is only one thing to say about this show. Its tripe.
And im tired of these SG fanboys who wont realise this because it would shatter their world. Personally, I think SGU will not even return for season 1 part 2......
This is obviously a collective of those guys that come to every discussion where like 50 SG fans will be saying how much they hate SGU, and they will chime in with "SGU is better because it's REALISTIC! Anyone who doesn't like SGU is obviously unrefined/has no taste/etc etc". I'm sorry, I don't watch sci-fi because I want "realistic", I watch sci-fi because I want "awesome". Not that SGU is in the least bit "realistic" anyway...
I think many of the people that profess to LOVE this crap are just saying it because they think it makes them seem sophisticated/refined to enjoy something crap instead of something awesome. The same sort of people that would tell you that a random wax crayon scribble by a 1 year old is a better work of art than a decent oil painting or something. Seriously, the makers could just have produced 20 episodes about an SG commander sitting on the toilet moaning about his troubles and woes, and these guys would still say that it's better because it's "different". Blah.
